CCP Games has blacklisted four people who were allegedly involved in vandalizing a physical monument to EVE Online that the company recently erected in Reykjavik, Iceland. The news comes courtesy of a post on the EVE Online forums from a CCP Games community manager. All four people have been permanently banned from attending future Fanfests, and three of them have had their EVE Online and Dust 514 accounts permanently banned. The fourth — who was allegedly only indirectly involved in the vandalism — will be punished with a six-month temporary ban from EVE Online. According to the forum post, CCP Games is keeping the identities of these players confidential in an effort to abide by the company’s privacy policy. However, the company may yet pursue further legal action against those it believes responsible for the vandalism. “We now consider this issue resolved within the EVE universe,” wrote the CCP Games community manager. “Any further action taken outside the virtual world relating to criminal damage or recovery of costs for repairs to the EVE Universe Monument will remain confidential between CCP Games, the authorities, and those involved.” The monument — which is inscribed with the main character names of all active EVE Online players as of March 1, 2014 — was unveiled days before the company’s recent Fanfest 2014 festival. During the festival someone vandalized the structure by adding the logo of the in-game Goonswarm faction and scratching out one of the player character names on the monument.
